If you mean selecting the class object of  a "HVAC Template" and a "HVAC system created by the user"  at the same time, both for a single zone in an IDF for expansion, the expansion will fail, if the template cannot identify the duplicated objects.

In my last reply I treated your "supply" as supplying energy to a single zone..
