RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Running EnergyPlus simulation using the Dos Prompt Box

The error showed that the two files you need to run the simulatio. (.ini  and .idd)

You can either copy these two files to your custom directory or to used the original EPlus root directory.

There may be other files you need to run the simulation.  Macro, expansion, ReadVarESO, etc.

The EPlaunch passes the nine arguments to the batch file.  What you need is to write another batch file to call the simulation batch file with the nine arguments. which you have re-defined.

Try using the EPlaunch first with the original root directory.  When that works, then copy and modify.

Dear Linda,

I tried to do exactly what you had recommended. It worked in the sense that the files were found but now I see a new error. I have attached an image of what I have changed in the "RunEplus.bat" file and the error that resulted from running the program as well.  I tried to attach the image file on the group support but it seems like we arent allowed to attach image files therefore I am writing to you directly. I hope that is okay.

I checked to see the EnergyplusV6-0-0 Directory and I cannot find Energy+.idd nor Energy+.ini. Is there a problem in the instillation?

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest of convenience.

Thanking you,
Niraj

Look at the RunEPlus file -- did you change the "program dir" and "weather
dir" from the defaults?

I believe you didn't run the files you thought you did but rather ran them
from their defaults.

What I usually do is make a folder under the root folder called "workdir".
Then I put files in folders beneath there.

SO, you could change the program dir to be:

c:\EnergyPlusV6-0-0\workdir\

and put your test.idf into workdir\myproject

then, you could type:

RunEPlus myproject\test

to run it. you could store your weather files in the same place they are
in the install or you could make your own folder for them and then change
the weather dir to be that folder.
