Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Unitary Heat Pump Error

Richard,

Thanks for your reply.

I have a Unitary System with multiple zones served by it. I am using this airloop mainly for ventilation purposes and have a separate system for space conditioning. In order to not utilize heating/cooling coils energy while providing ventilation air, I set the controlling zone to a zone that does not require conditioning at all. I assume that this is the reason the error is caused. Could you please say what you think is the best possible way to achieve what I want to do?

Thanks again.

The Fraction of Supply Air Flow That Goes Through the Controlling Zone is automatically calculated by the program. It means that the thermostat zone, the zone that is defined in the input, provides all the air (fraction of air to the control zone divided by the total air flow rate through the heat pump). If you have more than 1 zone (or air terminal) on this air loop, then this air loop is not set up correctly. If you do only have 1 zone for this air loop, then this warning is a mistake and should probably not be written to the error file. If you do only have 1 zone, send your input file to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx.

Hello,

Why would I get an error saying -

"The Fraction of Supply Air Flow That Goes Through the Controlling Zone is set to 1"

when there is no input like this in the definition of an Unitary Heat Pump : Air To Air object.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Vinay
