....GenOpt to decide if the each window is 1 m² or 0.0000001 m².
The wall has to be bigger than the window (i.e., there has to be wall area at the edge of the glass). If your window is 1mx1m, then the wall is all glass which would mean there was no wall (or 0 wall area).
Try limiting the window size to 0.999 m2 to 0.001 m2

I'm having some problems of « EnergyPlus crashed », due to "forrtl:error <65>: floating invalid".
I'm, for instance, just testing something, coupling EPlus and GenOpt. So It's a quite simple model (a cube 6*6*6 m), whom faces are divided into a "mesh" of 36 squares (that will be a double pane window or an opaque surface, except for the floor).
For now, before implementing my GenOpt model, I tried to run a simulation with a nearly full glazed south surface, but there occur my problem (with 36 windows). When I run with less windows, it makes no problem, but trying with 36 windows, it indicates that EPlus crashed. So I'm quite sure it comes from my geometric model or from the "simple method". Any idea about this?
The main problem is that I really need to use the simple rectangular objects (with X and Z origin and Length and Height, for more convenience in my GenOpt implementation). But :
- Writing my .idf file this way, I verify the conform geometry into OpenStudio's Sketchup plugin : everything is fine, the windows appear as I expect
- Running this same .idf file (without any modification with OpenStudio), EPlus crashes?
- So I export my .idf file from sketchup, through OpenStudio plugin, and I obtain the same windows, but with the detailed vertex entry objects (that means in my case 4 vertices, with their coordinates "x, y, z"). I run a simulation and? it works!
- The same happens with windows on each faces
So I can't understand what's happening with the simple rectangular objects method? The fact is, one more time, that I need to use this geometric description method to facilitate my work with GenOpt.
It's the 2nd time in few days that this crash happens (the other time, it was with another model, that I'd like to present you in another post).
I really don't understand, for it's the first time I have to face such a problem. I tried to change some parameters in my .idf file, but it's still the same problem?
I uploaded the 2 files in Files > _Problem_Submittals > window_geometry_2methods
If anybody has an idea, it would be great!
Thank you in advance
Waiting for instructions?
Mathieu
Ps : I know that, in a normal case, I should design a single big window, but the final goal is to make possible for GenOpt to decide if the each window is 1 m² or 0.0000001 m². That's why I need so many windows in each surface. I thought it would take more calculation time, but that it would work?
