Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Building Heat Gain / Loss

Hi,

The answer is yes, but it is a single value. This net single value can be heating or cooling load. If you want to eliminate the impact of the HVAC system use an ideal load object (ZoneHVAC:IdealLoadsAirSystem).

Energy Plus calculates a single value for load, which is the results of interactions of the various heat gains with the building surfaces (constructions), and boundary conditions. The reason being a single value is that energy plus solves the interaction of the various forms of heat gains simultaneously, which is more realistic representation of what is happening in real buildings. This value is the amount of heat that needs to be added or removed from the zone to maintain the room air at heating or cooling temperature set point, respectively, at each time step.

Also Energy Plus reports the various heat gains. But the sum of the heat gains is different from the load.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Building Heat Gain / Loss

Hi,

I've been reading many replies regarding this theme but i've never found a concrete answer!

Is it possible with EnergyPlus to determine the Heat Losses / Gains of a simple room without input any airflow? I just want to determine the Total Load (sum of conduction, convective, radiative) that i have to input to maintain the room at 25ºC, for example.

Thanks
