Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Inserting Fan:ZoneExhaust into AFN zone

You would be surprised at what you actually know compared to someone who has not used eplus. Try to do things that will reduce your time in the future. For example, now that you know what objects are required to add an exhaust fan, copy them into a text file and save it as AFNExhaustFan.txt in a "template" directory. Next time you add an airflow network exhaust fan, it will take about 2 minutes.

While you are working with files and thinking like this, you could have templates for all kinds of things. Then it's a simple matter of linking to the template and changing node names. For example, if you had a plant template with chillers, boilers, towers, whatever, you could link to it using imf and only have to change the plant inlet/outlet node names for the demand branches inlet/outlet pipes (in your file, not the template).

##include MyCWPlantChillerWithTower.imf
##include MyHWPlantBoiler.imf

or just copy-paste from that imf directly into your file.

An example macro file is: AbsorptionChiller_Macro.imf

Keep at it

Thanks Richard, I sorted the problem. I guess I'm frustrated because something as simple as inserting an exhaust fan ends up as such a headache. The AFN componant needs a crack surface which has to reference the building detailed surface and other objects which specify other objects and the spegetti just gets soooo long sometimes. And then I find out other people are doing Appx G simulations with Transys in 18 days as their first simulation. That's not fair. I'm at this now with eplus for almost 2 years and I feel like a beginner.
