Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] E plus crashes immediately

Our standard reply for this is:

Is this the first file you have tried with V6? Are you on Windows? Did you install to the default C:\EnergyPlus folder (there have been reports of problems if install under Program Files). Which version of OS are you using? You need to have full read and write access to the folder (and folders beneath) for EnergyPlus to run. V6 creates a subfolder under the folder where the example file is and copies some files there. Finally, you might use the options menu of EP-Launch and select or deselect "create batch file to run".

Another thing to possible avoid is using special character in path and/or file names.

Is it possible you downloaded the 64 bit version but are on a 32 bit machine?  Likewise, might you have an older processor on this system and need to download the "EnergyPlus for older processors"?

Bottom line is that the file does not crash here.

You will need to supply more information of the crash including turning on "pause during simulation" and sending us the screen shot of the command window where it crashes.

And, you need to send items like this to the helpdesk.

Hi folks,

I'm new to E plus and have been trying to run the Exercise 1A with no weather data as discussed in the Tutorial. I immediately get the message that E plus has crashed. I have tried running other example files and the same thing happens. I dont think that there are any error files generated.

The version is 6.0.0023

My PC is

Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit
4 Gb Ram
Intel Xenon 2.67 GHz

Thanks
