The effect of turbulence at the façade can be important and tends to increase flows through external openings, particularly in the case of single- sided ventilation. The additional ventilation this provides can be accounted for by using the equation provided in CIBSE Applications Manual AM10 (CIBSE, 1997) based on the work of Warren and Parkins (1984), i.e.
q = 0.05Aν where A is the area of the opening and ν is the local external wind speed.
taken from Coley, D. A. (2008). "Representing Top-hung Windows in Thermal Models." International Journal of Ventilation 7(2): 151-158.
My question: would it be possible to integrate this very simple estimation to take into account the turbulence effects within the AFN? - may be best in the "detailed opening".
turbulence effect factor: 0.05 (may be default or zero as default). Or is there already a way to model these turbulence effects?
Best,
Tobias
