Perhaps I did not phrase my question well enough! I am not sure if I can do so even now, but I?ll make another attempt.
· You can argue that a hotel has 24/7 occupancy because it operates 24 hours per day all week and must maintain comfort for the occupants. That?s probably why the typical ASHRAE schedules, and also the E+ DataSet schedules, indicate that the fan is ALWAYS on.
· The reality is that some fraction of the fans, plus their corresponding outdoor airflow, is off whenever the rooms are unrented or their occupants are elsewhere.
· In addition, some hotel management systems have occupancy sensors which change the HVAC operation and setpoints to ?unoccupied? whenever people are gone.
