I know that the EPlus make sure that the window area is smaller than the wall area.
The WWR ratio is used by the grading program to simplify calculation. The formula may not be as you have stated, which will make the ration larger than one.
I never use it, because it does not include many energy saving features, such as shading, view factor, etc.

Does e+ calculate this as WWR = the total exterior vertical window and glass door area / total exterior wall area (excluding doors, windows and other sub-surfaces)?
