Dear Karen,
Cooling or heating performance is a complex relationship between entering / leaving water temps and flow rates, as well as DX coil (entering air) dry and wet bulb temps. Normally this is tough to calculate and may not even be possible from a given manufacturer?s catalog data. A simplistic representation would be constant capacity at all conditions and perhaps that would be good enough for you ?. it?s not how a real piece of equipment works, however.
I?m guessing that the capacity and COP / EIR variation might be +-15-20% of nominal capacity over the range of input values. Over the course of a year? I?m not sure? and thus the reason for using a complicated set of curves.
Regarding your math:
Capacity_total = Power + Heat absorption = Power + Power x COP
Heat absorption = Capacity_total ? Power
