Yes you can do that. But what you need to remember is that the HVACTemplate objects create many other necessary objects required for the simulation. Examples are the thermostat, zone equipment connections, schedules, etc. So the best way to do this is to run the HVACTemplate file and then work from the expanded file (*.expidf) to add your other ZoneHVAC equipment objects.
