[EnergyPlus_Support] Supermarket refrigeration modeling - unexpected results

We are using EnergyPlus 7.0 to model a supermarket with refrigeration. We started with an example input file and tweaked it to better represent the particular building we're interested in.

We are trying to use the model to predict the savings associated with mechanical subcooling, but found results that were lower than expected. We dug into it and found unexpected suction temperatures. With a mechanical subcooler, the suction temperature is always 0C for all time steps and for all liquid temperature setpoints. When the subcooler is removed, the suction temperature is 4C above the constant evaporating temperature (4C of superheat). This doesn't seem right to me and I suspect it explains the lower then expected energy savings.

Has anyone else noticed this or have an explanation?
