Use the right hand rules to find the vector direction. A small 'angle' between two vectors can hava a large number, because they are pointing at different directions and measured in clockwise or counter clockwise direction.. ================== Your roof is practically flat. The slide rule or simple calculator will not work. You need to use triangular windows. Line up one edge and find another point on the surface. EPlus may tell you how much to adjust the third point. Hello Group,
I'm having trouble with a couple of window surfaces sitting on a very slightly none horizontal roof (please don't ask why it's not horizontal). The first time e+ ran, it threw an error that the difference between the base surface and the window surface was more than 180 deg. I reversed the verticies order, but now the difference seems even larger. Funnily looking at it in openstudio, I don't see any errors nearly this big. Here's an example where I've already reversed the order: BuildingSurface:Detailed, 118300_Roof_0_0_0, !- Name Roof, !- Surface Type 1, !- Construction Name 51482D, !- Zone Name Outdoors, !- Outside Boundary Condition , !- Outside Boundary Condition Object SunExposed, !- Sun Exposure WindExposed, !- Wind Exposure 0, !- View Factor to Ground 7, !- Number of Vertices -23.716795928400,-3.049668700700,4.850463841400, !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 1 {m} -23.416829502300,-5.505177516300,4.850463838900, !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 2 {m} -22.810640840000,-5.753296600100,4.850463839400, !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 3 {m} -22.388041230000,-6.253733680100,4.850463839400, !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 4 {m} -22.120806470000,-6.197311320100,4.850463839400, !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 5 {m} -20.641571547600,-6.306840390000,4.850463837700, !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 6 {m} -20.641571547600,-3.044599250000,4.850463837700; !- X,Y,Z ==> Vertex 7 {m} !
