Hello,
Currently I work in a building energy modeling project to determine the energy consumption of an international airport terminal.
I have estimated the heat gain from people and electric lighting. When I submitted this project to my supervisor, he said that I must add heat gain from the elevator and escalator, along with airport terminal specific equipment such as x-ray baggage scanner and baggage carousel.
The airport terminal has five escalators and four elevators. Three of the escalator and two of the elevator are installed at the boarding lounge area, and the rest of them are installed near the check-in area.
My questions are :
1. Do the elevators and escalators contribute significant heat gain to the overall building heat gain?
2. If the elevators and escalators contribute significant heat gain, then it must be related with the elevator and escalator's energy consumption. Unfortunately, I don't have any data that can represent the elevator and escalator operation. Does anyone has some good method to estimate the elevator and escalator energy consumption with the minimal data?
3. After we get the energy consumption, how to calculate the heat gain?
Any assistance will be appreciated
Thank you
Sincerely,
Laksana Gema P.
