[EnergyPlus_Support] jEPlus+Net is available for download

Dear All,

If you have seen the Amazon EC2 video, the version of jEPlus used in that demo is now available for download!

The package is called jEPlus+Net, which is designed to help you create an ad hoc computer cluster with minimum effort. To see how to use it, please check out the tutorial video: http://youtu.be/lHnyQAe1SYc

Now, before you can download the package, there is a catch - You will need to register on the website! I think I have a good reason for making this a requirement. Although jEPlus+Net has been used and improved over the past couple of years, and is fairly stable, it is a new computing scenario that many are unfamiliar with. The program distributes E+ jobs to other computers via the network, and collects back simulation results. Since both E+ input and output files are substantial in size, jEPlus+Net can generate heavy network traffic that, in some cases, can bring down your office/campus network. This is the nature of such (distributed computing) approach, rather than an issue with jEPlus+Net. So I need you to use it with care, and always start with a small cluster.

For the time being, jEPlus+Net is made available as an experimental tool for those who understand the ‘risk’ and choose to use it. Registering on the website is a small test of your commitment ;-)

So here is the link: http://www.iesd.dmu.ac.uk/~jeplus/wiki/doku.php?id=jeplusplus:jeplusnet

The website is the new home for jEPlus. It is still under construction; so please bear with those broken links. To register, click on the Login button on the top right corner; the register link is right beneath the input boxes.

Best regards,

Yi
