[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Modeling DHW Use

You're basically right on.

Technically, what you would do would be to determine total flow rate of the fixtures in the room. Then, enter that into the peak flow rate of line of the wateruse:equipment element.

Then create a schedule for the line item "flow rate fraction schedule name"

See below.

  WaterUse:Equipment,
    DHW Cafeteria, !- Name
    DHW Cafeteria, !- End-Use Subcategory
    0.0007,                  !- Peak Flow Rate {m3/s}
Cafeteria DHW, !- Flow Rate Fraction Schedule Name
DHW Supply Temperature, !- Target Temperature Schedule Name
DHW Supply Temperature, !- Hot Water Supply Temperature Schedule Name
DHW Mains Temperature, !- Cold Water Supply Temperature Schedule Name
    F1:Cafe; !- Zone Name

  Schedule:Compact,
    Cafeteria DHW, !- Name
Any Number, !- Schedule Type Limits Name
    Through: 12/31, !- Field 1
    For: Alldays, !- Field 2
    Until: 10:00,0, !- Field 3
    Until: 11:00,0.2, !- Field 5
    Until: 14:00,0.88, !- Field 7
    Until: 15:00,0, !- Field 9
    Until: 18:00,0.2, !- Field 11
    Until: 24:00,0; !- Field 13
