RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Material & Material:NoMass

Calculated U values are shown in the output file (.eio) when you add the report for Constructions:

Output:Constructions,Constructions,Materials;

The object is described in the Input Output reference and the output in the Output Details documents.  These are shown without film coefficients because film coefficients vary during the simulation.

To change the U value, you would need to change the inputs.

Thanks for your helpful answers,
I still have a question regarding this class:
After I define the materials and input them, How can I know the total U value of the construction? because our local codes oblige us now to exceed certain value for each construction. Is there anyway -after knowing U value- to modify it?

That is a problem that is being worked on for the next release.

Also I have noticed that the finite difference algorithm for simulating Phase Change Materials does not converge when any materials no mass are used.

That is correct, if you have some layers with nomass, the whole construction will still be okay (providing thermal mass properties to the building) if they are using the "regular" properties.

just that layer has no mass, not the whole contruction...? I.e. I assume that a no mass layer does not nullyfy the internalmass of the entire contruction, right?
