[EnergyPlus_Support] green roof modelling

Dear All,

I am modelling a green roof for my uni project at the moment. The aim of this project will be to find out how the green roofing affects the thermal performance of a building in a cooling season in San Francisco.
I will simulate the same building once with a bare roof and with a green roof and monitor the indoor temperatures in both cases or cooling loads reduction. I am still looking for a native plant for the location if I do not find will go for sedum. However, I have very little idea how energy plus interpret the precipitation and irrigation input and how I can schedule them.In the inputoutput reference, there is this option smart schedule which (I guess)lets user combine the two but not clear.
So, I would be grateful if someone familiar with green roof modelling in energy plus helps me

Any information about green roofing is welcome.

thanks
