Hi All,
I've been playing around with the expanded IDF that results from HVAC Templates for DOAS with Fan Coils.
I'm a little confused as to why the outdoor air is introduced (and specified) at the fan coil and not via the DOAS. For instance, it looks like the DOAS system is provided with return air from the zones and ensures the outlet air is at least 12.2C. But then at the fan coil unit, OA is introduced at that 12.2C can easily drop below freezing (in the winter). So the heating coil in the fan coil unit is needed to bring that back up. As a black box, it's working fine, but I'd like to understand what's going on inside so I can modify it further. Can anyone enlighten me?
As a follow-up question, I noted that if I disable the heating coil in the fan coil unit, the baseboard heaters in my zone air unable to pick up the slack; so my zone air temperature can be 10C short of the setpoint. I don't believe the baseboard maximum capacity is an issue. Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Liam O'Brien
