The night sky has a radiative temperature of -60 deg C. This exchanges a lot of heat from your roof during the night. The light constructed room will enjoy a very cold roof very quickly where as the thick roof will take longer to cool down. The same during the day. In total the heavy construction may be colder...but it will be constantly colder if you understand. The fluxuation will be less.
