[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Need the EPW file
Hi Professor,
There is no pre-made .epw file for Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico on the EnergyPlus website, thus you must make your own. You do this by contacting your local weather data authority and ask them for as many of the following weather properties as possible for the year you want to test.
- time (note an .epw file must use hourly data. So if you are given time frames less or more than hourly, you need to average or extrapolate the data to make them hourly data)
- date
- Outdoor dry bulb temperature
- Relative humidity/dew point
- direct normal radiation
- diffuse horizontal radiation
- wind speed
then you need to open a different .epw file in Notepad, and save that as a .csv file so you can edit it in Excel.
Then you need to manually change all the relevant data. Save as .csv, and finally save it back as an .epw in Notepad. Note: when saving back as .epw file, you'll notice a lot of commas added. You'll need to replace the top 8 lines with the top 8 lines from the original .epw weather file. This gets rid of the commas.
When changing the weather data manually, please refer to Pg. 15 of "Auxiliary EnergyPlus Programs" under EnergyPlus documentation. Table 8 shows what each column means in the .epw weather file.
Sincerely,
Ryan
