I am trying to add a water solar collector to a model to serve a process hot water load during peak solar times. I tried to just plug the solar collector array in as one would insert a boiler into a hot water loop, on the supply side. I ran the model only only the cooling design day I get a number of errors in the middle of the day stating that the loop temperature falls below the lower limit of 3 °C. (The error messages state that the Maximum temperature on the loop was -2.33 °C).
Looking at the solar collector example file I now notice that they were modeled as being on the demand side with a storage tank. I have read the input output reference manual for this object and could not find anywhere that it must be installed on the demand side.
Can someone confirm if the SolarCollector:FlatPlate:Water must be installed on the demand side of a water loop? If it doesn't is there an example file that uses this object in the supply side that I am missing? I would like to avoid the additional complications of adding a storage tank if possible.
Thank you,
Joe Lewis
