Simply connect the boiler pipe to the solar collector example electric heater connections, and you have the complete DHW system.
In the example (and Figure 118) the DHW temperture can be adjusted in two ways. One mixing with the cold water main water as shown ( tap controlled), and the other by limiting the storage tand temperature, which turns off the boiler loop when the desired temperature is reached. The solar collector is isolated and connector using set point managers.. A storage tank is acturally three heat exchangers in one. The solar collector example file does not show the boiler and the HW loop. There are many examples which show the normal boiler and tanks with both the HW and DWH. EPlus do not generate efficiency curves. YOu have to get them from the manufacturer or carry out a real test in the laboratory as used by the manufaturer. I am not sure what you are trying to do. A problematic issue is that in the real HVAC plant the hot water does not pass directly from the hot water storage tank to the DHW loop but there is a heat exchanger. The water in the hot water storage tank, whichin the real HVAC plant is connected to the HW loop as well, can be much warmer than the water that is necessary as domestic hot water and the heat exchanger solves that problem. Therefore the real boiler does not produce water at 40°C (which are requested by the DHW loop) but the waterheater of my model does.

Unfortunately the waterheater has not got any Efficiency curve. Do you think that it could be an acceptable solution? Should I work with nodes, splitters, and mixer (e.g. the connection of the hot water storage tank with the HW loop and with the DHW loop could be common and then a splitter could divide the HW loop from the DHW loop)? > > Best Regards > > > __._,_.___ Primary EnergyPlus support is found at: http://energyplus.helpserve.com or send a message to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx The primary EnergyPlus web site is found at: http://www.energyplus.gov The group web site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/ Attachments are currently allowed but be mindful that not everyone has a high speed connection.
