Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] xEsoView error (frequent)

Nacho,
It is actually the only open studio tool that I have personally found to work flawlessly every time and use frequently. (I have  seat a design builder so do not need the sketchup geometry tool)
I like it because of its flexibility in colors fonts ect, as well as really like its ability to plot values on top of each other, and its colorful gradient maps, as well as the ability to export as ability to export as image files rather then PDF, so that I can put them inside of reports...

I have attached a report that I used results viewer to plot annual PCM temperatures with (page 12 & 13) and below is a link to info from NREL.. Best of luck-

Dr.Li, my simulation has 4 timesteps per hour for both cases (with hourly variable and without hourly variable).

I'm still thinking that there is an error with xEsoView. I have attached the both eso files(test.eso doesnt have hourly reported variables and doesnt work)  and the test idf file.
Jeremiah, I will try with the openstudio viewer.

I like to use open studio results viewer with .sql files, it just seems to work better.

The error you have described is not an error.  Is is a common characteristics for all graphic tools displaying a single point of data.  Excel may display some dots and becomes almost invisible.   xESOviewer may do the same, remember that the x-axis is on a one year length.  If you scroll the graph to that time, you may see it.

When you have a report variable which covers two separated time  periods, the xESOviewer uses a common annual time axis and may  display them far apart.  For example, the two periods of the Summer and Winter days would be far apart.

You cannot run EPlus simulation with larger than one hour interval (timestep less than 1), therefore I do not see the problem.

You cannot run a daily simulation.  You may report the value as a daily averaged value.  This is the reason why  the DesignDay simulation would not produce weekly, monthly or yearly report summaries.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] xEsoView error (frequent)

Hello group,
this time I'm not going to ask any dude. I only want to advice one problem that I found today with xEsoView. I'm not used to using it for processing my simulations but a colleague was having problems with, he ran the simulation with only two output variables reported daily. When he tried to see them with xEsoView there is only one value in the graphic. I checked the csv file and all was OK. I've tried with other frequents and I noticed that the xEsoView must process at least one hourly(or lower frequent) variable to show the graphics.
-Running a simulation only with daily(or bigger frequent) variables, xEsoView can not process the graphics.
-Running a simulation with at least an hourly variable, xEsoView works fine.
I hope this can help others in the future.
