[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Multiple HVACTemplates Per Zone Error



I won't be able to view this until I get my "summation" E+ email (unless there is a way in the yahoo.com forum that I am unaware of). 

Using the .expidf I have the dual duct/single zone air handlers sending air to the zone inlet nodes. I then added fan coils from the other HVACTemplate .expidf (and all of their corresponding stuff) and they are also sending air to the zone inlet node. 

I am assuming I need to do a Connector:Mixer to mix the outlet nodes from the air handlers and the fan coils to to supply to the zones. To do this I would need a Connector:Mixer which requires Branches, however I don't see how I can set up the dual duct air handlers into a Branch with an inlet/outlet.

Can I use something like the AirLoopHVAC:ZoneMixer to mix these nodes? 

Also when I am setting up the ZoneHVAC:Equipment list does that determine which is the primary heating/cooling source? Like if I input all my capacities and want the fancoil to heat/cool as much as possible then have the air handler pick up the rest do I just need to change the simulation order?

The direct answer to you question on the EPlus template usage is that  the set of  templates must be for the appropriate application.. You will use the HVACtemplate:Zone: for the fan coil unit.  and the HVACtemplate:plant for the water plant, boiler and chiller. VAV for the zone is an adjustable damper for an air duct, which is to be used with a HVACtemplate:system.  (two templates)  to form the DOAS (AHU system).  An additional  fan coil unit in the zone is still possible, but not easy to specify, because one zone thermostat cannot control two sets of equipment.. You can only specify one  HVACtemplate:Thermostat  for each zone.
