[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Cost in Output:Meter or Output:Variable
Well E+ can output hourly consumption in energy and if I know the energy type consumed per hour I figured that I would be able to see the $/hr consumed.
One of the major reasons why I would like something like this is that I am experimenting with using the EMS objects and there are recurring situations where minimizing energy consumed does not minimize cost. For instance a real world application is as follows:
I have written a multizone/dual duct air handler mixed air temperature setpoint reset control block (in real life, not in E+) which determines the operating cost of the air handler and then determines the operating cost with a higher MaTp and a lower MaTp then changes the setpoint to minimize cost. Due to the fact that we pay much more for heating than cooling during a lot of the "nice" months we are economically forced to consume more energy by using our cooling coils than by using the "free cooling" of the outdoor air.
Also, in the results viewer it can only display metric units while I work in english and it would be easier to have it display $ values for quick reference instead of me trying to do a bunch of mental gymnastics to compare the two.
