Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have one more question:
How can I find out what is the contribution of various components in annual energy consumption? I need to know how much the walls , roof, floor, windows etc. are contributing towards the annual energy consumption.
Mike.

See example file "MultispeedHeatPump.idf". It looks like it includes a multi-speed air-to-air heat pump, but the fuel type is "Natural Gas" for the associated Coil:Cooling:DX:MultiSpeed and Coil:Heating:DX:MultiSpeed objects.
I recommend that you use an electric heat pump from one of the example files, add custom part load curves and report the heat pump gas usage as a separate meter. Finally, check the heat pump gas usage and just consider it to be electricity.
