[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Question obout NREL OPENSTUDIO: Mechanical Ventilation in Object Inspector

Hi Antonios

I had a problem just becaouse of that in one my models. I reccomend that you just use OS:DesignSpecification:OutdoorAir if you are simulating HVAC and ZoneVentilation:DesgnFlowRate if you are running IdealLoads simulations, but not both.

The first question are those two the same? If not what are the differences? I know that if i want to input the mechanical ventilation air flow requirements of a space in ENERGYPLUS i go to the ZoneVentilation:DesgnFlowRate and for example, if i choose in the design flow rate calculation method the FLOW/ZONE option i fill the design flow rate (m3/sec), where the total air volume requirements are the sum of the zone (m3/sec m2)and the people (m3/sec person). In the edit object of OS:DesignSpecification:OutdoorAir there is an Outdoor Air Method Tab where you choose Sum/Maximum and then depending on the selected method you fill the boxes below. Is the [Sum] the same as FLOW/ZONE? If yes by selecting and filling both boxes: Outdoor Air per person and Outdoor per Flow Area does the method summarizes both input values and thus having the mechanical ventilation air flow requirements for the space? Thank you in advance Antonis.
