Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] how to create a .rvi file??

Hi Tasos,

rvi file is actually a plain text file (having an extension .rvi) where you can specify outputs to be extracted the eso file. Outputs are defined by output variable names which also need to be specified in EnergyPlus idf file. The example of the rvi file is following (don't forget zero at the end)

eplusout.eso
eplusout.csv
Heating:DistrictHeating
Cooling:DistrictCooling
0

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] how to create a .rvi file??

Hello all,

Does anyone have experience with creating .rvi files from an .idf file? I need to have a .rvi file to run some parametric simulations with the tool jEPlus.

I have been trying to study the example in the Examples folder->Advanced Output folder and read the ExerciseOutput1Instructions.pdf but from step 5 and on it becomes very difficult for me to follow, especially step 5. I have to rename the .bat file but in my folder the .bat file is already renamed. But why should I do that? and how is that connected to my .idf model? I have no .bat file in my results folder when I run my model. Or do I have to use this .bat file in the example in all models to create .rvi file? I am not even so sure if these questions make sense.

The questions still that remains is, how to create .rvi files? Please someone that has been through the process before help me with this, maybe it is indeed simple and I am just missing something.

Looking forward for your answers.

Kind Regards
