RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Mimicking occupant behaviour - Window opening

Jean:

Here are my answers to your questions.

1) Does this seem a good approach and what have I forgotten to include in
the premise?

When you use EMS for CO2 control, the model temperature control is
overridden. Therefore, you need to write a whole set of window opening
controls by yourself using EMS. Another suggestion of CO2 control is to
allow opening modulation when the outdoor CO2 level is between 450 and 1100
ppm.

2) is eplus looking at creating this sort of control in the future?

We want to enhance window opening controls. So far, we don't have an
enhancement list item. Could you provide more detailed description/logic?
The current control is individual control, such temperature, enthalpy .... .
Do you want combined controls?

Hope this helps.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Mimicking occupant behaviour - Window opening

Dear Group and Lixing,
My goal is to mimick the occupant behaviour of opening and closing windows
using an existing airflownetwork.

I'm about to start on the zone-wise implementation of using EMS to turn the
AFN venting availibility schedule on (@CO2>1100ppm) and off (@CO2<450ppm)
based on CO2 sensors in the zones to try and mimick when the users would
shortly open windows when the room air quality has deteriorated enough.

Together with a logic to open windows when ODA temperatures are above a
certain minimum AND the inside temperature is more than 22 degC.

My questions are
1) Does this seem a good approach and what have I forgotten to include in
the premise?
2) is eplus looking at creating this sort of control in the future?

Kind regards,

Jean

PS. In the past it has been confirmed that leakage infiltration of windows
in the closed position does take place when the AFN venting availibility is
Zero. Is this still the case?
