[EnergyPlus_Support] .rvi in version 8

Hello all,

I installed EnergyPlus v8 two days ago and I noticed that the .rvi file
is used differently than in v7.2.

With v7.2 I would set the variables in the .idf that I needed reported
in the .eso with a * key. For example:

Output:Variable,*,Zone Mean Air Temperature,hourly; !- Zone Average [C]

Then in the .rvi I would specify what data to be extracted from the .eso
and written in the .csv file. If my model has many zones (let's say more
than 20) and I need the Zone Mean Air Temperature for only 2 of them in
the .csv, then the .rvi file would look like this:

myfile.eso
myfile.csv

Zone_5, Zone Mean Air Temperature
Zone_18, Zone Mean Air Temperature
0

This would create a .csv report with the mean air temperatures for
Zone_5 and Zone_18. Then if I need the temperatures for other zones I
would change the key (zone name) and then run the ReadVarsESO program
again.

As I have noticed in version 8, the key is not included in the .rvi

myfile.eso
myfile.csv

Zone Mean Air Temperature
0

and it reports the Zone Mean Air Temperature for all 20+ zones. The .csv
file is huge and difficult to work with.

I find the v7.2 .rvi to be more flexible, so is there a way to use it
like this with v8?

Thank you!
Miroslav
