Yes, I use the V8.0.0.008 as it appears to be the current version that can be downloaded from the site http://apps1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/energyplus/energyplus_download.cfm.
I checked the .rvi files in the examples and they all have no key values. Also the example given in the ExerciseOutput1 Instructions.pdf shows structure with only the variable name.

Are you using V8.0.0.008?
You could just add them back in -- the rvi works the same as it did in V7.2, but had to be converted with the change in output variable names.
