RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System with ERV

Thanks for the prompt response.

The other question is that the DOAS’s cooling coil is VRF type, is it possible to set this coil in EnergyPlus?

Thanks.

Stan,

You can model the VRF and the DOAS as a separate systems serving each zone. To do this:

(1) set the outdoor air flow rates in " ZoneHVAC:TerminalUnit:VariableRefrigerantFlow" objects to zero.

(2) set up a central DOAS system that supplies the required amount of outdoor air to each zone.

(3) connect the terminal air distribution units of the DOAS system to each zone

(4) Make the DOAS terminal unit first priority and the VRF Zone Object the second priority in "ZoneHVAC:EquipmentList". The equipment set up in example file "ZoneWSHP_wDOAS" is a good starting point to understand the connection though this example is a single zone.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System with ERV

Hello,

I am simulating a building with VRF system for each thermal zone, and a VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System with ERV. I cannot decide which is a good method to simulate this VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System with ERV. It seems that the HVAC template DOAS cannot been assigned to VRF system. Is there any good methodology for this VRF DOAS ERV system? Thanks for the help.
