In large part, a coil’s performance is defined by its part load curves. You should be able to define the coil curves to match the manufacturer performance. In the case of a VRF, it is essentially a heat pump, although it is in real life almost exclusively a multi-zone system so it is unusual that you would use such a system for DOAS. James V Dirkes II, PE, BEMP, LEED AP From: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of ??? Thanks for the prompt response. The other question is that the DOAS’s cooling coil is VRF type, is it possible to set this coil in EnergyPlus? Thanks. Stan Ho From: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Bereket Nigusse Stan, You can model the VRF and the DOAS as a separate systems serving each zone. To do this: (1) set the outdoor air flow rates in " ZoneHVAC:TerminalUnit:VariableRefrigerantFlow" objects to zero. (2) set up a central DOAS system that supplies the required amount of outdoor air to each zone. (3) connect the terminal air distribution units of the DOAS system to each zone (4) Make the DOAS terminal unit first priority and the VRF Zone Object the second priority in "ZoneHVAC:EquipmentList". The equipment set up in example file "ZoneWSHP_wDOAS" is a good starting point to understand the connection though this example is a single zone. Hope this helps.
