You can stick a "perfectly clear" window on the interzone partition and assign a zonemixing object to make sure the air between the zones remain "well mixed".

Are you talking about surfaces defined only by a very small thermal resistance? If yes, I believe these do not let sun cross it, they are considered opaque, and would not then treat properly solar distribution. Or are you talking about a new object?
