There are very good infiltration objects...not ventilation objects. There is a guidence from nist September 2009 on infiltration with energyplus, that helps you understand the settings.
AFN is good for known parsmeters...do you really know how often and for how long your doors swing open and closed statistically per day on a minute by minute bases? I think not. How can you say that the same air change for a 40% open door over an hour equates with 15 opening and closing events over the same hour.
