[EnergyPlus_Support] ASHRAE 90.1 "New Buildings"

Hi,

I am not very clear on definition of "New Buildings" in ASHRAE 90.1 standard.

Clearly, the "existing building" is defined as "a building or portion thereof that was previously occupied or approved for occupancy by the authority having jurisdiction."

However, if I want to start a LEED project (using PRM) on a building that has already been occupied for years but has never been done a performance ratings check (the purpose is on how this building performs in terms of energy performance), can I still treat this building as a new building (because it is the building PRM will apply, and is not an addition nor alteration to any existing building)?

Thanks and regards,

Sean
