I will try to explain it in more detail In order to model a Ventilated Façade in E+ version 6 I’ve used the following method a) In “BuildingSurface:Detailed” I’ve introduced “OtherSideContitionsModel” in Outside Boundary Conditions (name introduced in step b:) b) I’ve introduced a “SurfaceProperty:OtherSideConditionsModel” object c) I’ve introduced a “SurfaceProperty:ExteriorNaturalVentedCavity” (name introduced in step b: and surfaces introduced in step a: ) This method works perfectly under V6 with or without window in the façade but in V7.2 and V8 only works if there are no windows on the façade. In V7.2 or V8 if there are any window on the façade the following severe error appears: ** GetSurfaceData: Subsurface="VENTANASUR" exterior condition [ExternalEnvironment] in a base surface="SURSALON" with exterior condition [OSCM] I’m doing something wrong in V8? or a bug appears in the transition from V6 to V7.2 or V8? If you are interested in knowing whether there is a bug in V8, then you have shared enough information. If you want help to solve the problem, more information is required! From: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of josep.sole@xxxxxxxxxxx I found some troubles modeling ventilated facades in newer versions 7.2 & 8 (in version 6 it works properly) I model the surface wit “Other Side ConditionsModel” I include the “Surface property Other side conditions model” and “Exterior Natural Vented Cavity” objects and the model runs ok if there are no windows in the surface But: if there are windows on the surface, I got the following severe error. ** GetSurfaceData: Subsurface="VENTANASUR" exterior condition [ExternalEnvironment] in a base surface="SURSALON" with exterior condition [OSCM] Is it a bug in V8.0? or I m doing something wrong? Josep Solé Sustainibility & Technical Manager Móvil +34 606 42 32 14 De: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] En nombre de anisur1294@xxxxxxxxx Hello, I am optimizing the energy performance by coupling EnergyPlus with GenOpt. GenOpt collects the results from ESO output file where the unit is set to JOULE by default. As the values are very big number, GenOpt shows error for that. I converted SI unit to IP unit from EpLauncher option, but it works only for manual runs. For automatic runs with GenOpt, it goes to the default SI setting automatically. Is there anyway that I can change the unit to GigaJoule/kWh/Btu in IDF file that will change the unit in ESO file? Or Is there anyway that I can set it that for automatic runs with GenOpt also it will convert to IP? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
