That is a difficalt question. Software validation like BestTest and ASHRAE 140, validates software, but models are specific. The best thing would be for an independant other engineer to remodel the project using a different software. I wouldn't expect even close match (this excersize has been done for LEED vs BREEAM projects and the same project energy usage would deviate by up to 20%! Ironically, perhaps correctly, the savings against the respective baselines was a far better match).

Another option of quality control is using the PRM outlined in Appendix G of ASHRAE 90.1. I find it a fantastic QA program.
