RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Simple Benchmarking and SSD vs HD
Jason,
The benchmark set we are using is a selection of various example files come with E+, in combination with various weather files. (Weather has an impact on simulation speed.) Here are more details: http://www.jeplus.org/wiki/doku.php?id=examples:projects:examples. They have been modified to run annual simulation, and generate a core set of outputs for comparing different E+ versions.
There is also a more demanding benchmark set based on user-created models: http://www.jeplus.org/wiki/doku.php?id=examples:projects:doc_benchmark_model_set. This one take quite long to run; so we have only a handful of results.
I just saved your benchmark models and ran simulations as is. 1301 was on Windows, 1181 on Linux. The Linux versions of E+ have been consistently faster than the Windows version by 5-10% since V7.0.
Cheers,
Yi

Yi,
Thanks for providing this data. I was not aware of this web page. What IDF file is used for those benchmarks?
Was the 1301.85s for the annualized reference buildings using Linux or Windows?
BTW, the ASUS M51AC was about $850.
