[EnergyPlus_Support] Setting up an optimization problem with GenOpt

Hi all,

Sorry for posting this message, but maybe someone in this group has some experience in the following topic.

I am trying out to figure how to set up an optimization problem in GenOpt. Here is the problem:
I would like to find optimal "breaking" point (outside temperature, supply temperature) in heating curve (3-point control) used in control of hydronic heating system (baseboards). Current standard for feed-forward control in my country is to use 2-point heating curve definition (to set 80oC supply temperature when outside temperature is less than -15oC, and to set 45oC supply temperature when outside temperature is 12oC or higher; all other supply temperatures are calculated from linear function between these two points). I created EMS Program within E+ in order to be used by GenOpt. The function I want to minimize is the gas consumption (ideally on daily level, but for now let this be monthly level). All of the above I know how to do, including GenOpt part. Here is what I cannot do: By minimizing the objective function I would like to keep the indoor temperature in one zone above 20oC during occupancy period. If the temperature drops I would like to impose penalty term on objective function. P.S. If anyone has some examples with GenOpt files willing to share I would be grateful.

Marko
