[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: how to model natural ventilation in EnergyPlus?
Dear sir/madamIn order to model Nat. Vent. in EnergyPlus you have different options. In your case, you are going to model a simple single-zone with an opening facing south. Hence, you are probabely going to use Design Flow Rate method. For detailed Natural Ventilation Calculations (multizone considering wind directions, wind pressure coefficients etc.) you have to use Natural Ventilation and Duct leakage category in EnergyPlus. I highly recommend you to read EnergyPlus input/outpur reference guide as well as engineering reference guide of EnergyPlus they are all available in installation folder of EnergyPlus in ¨Documentation¨ folder. For your attention, please read Group ? Airfflow on page 427 & Group ? Airflow Nettwork on page 807 of EnergyPlus input output reference ¨Date: September 27, 2013¨ if you have other e+ references you may find the tutorials on the same pages or maybe some pages up or down.
Note that, in EnergyPlus installation folder in C:\EnergyPlusV8-2-0\ExampleFiles you can find different examples of AirFlowNetworkmodels for houses, offices etc.
Also I recommend you to read a Natural Ventilation Guide (book) which helps a lot to understand the phenomenon of Natural Ventilation Design and affecting factors.
Good luck with your Natural Ventilation Modeling in EnergyPlus.
