Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Extract data from enrgyPlus

Dear Saad,
Here are examples:
Output:Variable, NodeIn_OA_RTU-Ofc, System Node Temperature, Timestep;
Output:Variable, Node_Offices, System Node Temperature, Timestep;
Output:Variable, HtgCoil1_RTU-Ofc, Heating Coil Gas Rate, Timestep;

The portion highlighted in red is a node name for which you want to know the "System Node Temperature".  The  portion highlighted in orange is a component name (gas heating coil in this case).
As mentioned, look in example files for other ways to use these "Output:Variable"s.
Also, it is very helpful to use this command object:
Output:VariableDictionary, IDF
When you add this, a ".rdd" file is created.  This file includes a complete list of applicable variables for your .idf.  The .rdd file can be searched for variables that are of interest to you.
Finally, consider using a ".rvi" file to organize all of your output variables into a consistent order.

Ok

As an example, let suppose we have one room with HVAC system (thermostat), so the output her will be the (room temperature) and the input is( heater's power+ outside temperature ), so where can I find these data that are related to input and output.
hopefully my example is clear.

Regards,

If you are doing this with a programmatic method you could do a query of the SQLite file as it contains all of the inputs and outputs..

I  cannot tell what "data" you are trying to extract.  Please give specific examples.

Hi,

Thank you fro your help.

Actually, I am still confucsed. I read Outputdetailexamples.pdf file that contains all output files, but I couldn`t know how I can  get the output data.

I need input and output data from EnergyPlus model to use it in system Identification toolbox to find the model, so I need data as (numbes).

Could anybody explain how can I get the data with more details.

Regards,

Saad Abobakr

You can define individual data points such as temperatures and flows using the Output:Variable objects
For energy use, the Output:Meter objects are used.
There are also some custom Meter objects that enable defining combinations of energy-using equipment into a group, but the Output:Meter objects already has some standard categories, such as lighting, Fans, etc.
