[EnergyPlus_Support] Adding Exhaust Fan

I have been trying to add an exhaust fan to a room.  It's a storage room with trash so it's not connected to any heating or cooling equipment.

I added a ZoneExhaustFan, created an equipment list with the fan, even added a dummy thermostat to the zone and a zone sizing object.  However, the model always crashes because it does not recognize it as a controlled zone.

How do I get the zone to be recognized as "controlled" even though I just want a continually operating exhaust fan?

Error:

** Severe  ** GetZoneEquipmentData1: Number of Zone Equipment lists [12] not equal Number of Controlled Zones [11]

   **   ~~~   ** ..Each Controlled Zone [ZoneHVAC:EquipmentConnections] must have a corresponding(unique) ZoneHVAC:EquipmentList
