In the past we have used both. Open Studio is, I think still, the only software that can import idf data.

We have used it to verify geometry and before DB with DetailedHVAC we've had to further develope models in idf text... When geo changed, open studio was the only way forward. And this may still happen.

In the past geo in OS has been unstable, for large projects. This may not be the case anymore.

Ivan,

Why do you use both DB and Sketchup? I thought that DB completely replace the need of sketchup and Open Studio? Please clarify.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Modeling Methods - Sharing

Hi everyone!

i've a doubt, but i'm here to know how is the modeling methods of each one.

We have Design Builder, Google Scketchup with Open Studio, and i've heard that some professionals model with excel macro spreadsheets to take the coordinates of each zone.

Someone models with spreadsheets?

I'm using desing builder and i like it. What program do you think is better?

I would like to know how to do.

Thanks for all!
