Check out the ZoneHVAC:IdealLoadsAirSystem in the input/output reference manual that comes with EnergyPlus.

In your E+ install directory, the file \ExampleFiles\ExampleFiles.xls has a column "Ideal Loads" (column U for v8.2). Anything with "x" in this column should be of help if you need a working example.

hi,

i need to calculate only the heating and cooling loads for several days of a year. 

this should mean that i do not need to specify any HVAC equipment.

is there an example file that i can use as a reference? or any guidelines that i need to follow?
