I can't comment too much on the problem you're having with Step 5, but I would think that Excel would allow you to save the modified file as CSV, which would automatically be "EnergyPlus CSV" if you haven't changed the data structure at all.

I do have a strong recommendation that you not map new solar data into an existing weather file, because that destroys the integrity of the hourly records, i.e., there are numerous links between the solar and other climatic data (sunny hours tend to be warmer, more windy, etc. than those that are not), so you should either import all the fields (particularly the predominant ones for temperature, humidity, and wind), or map the solar data onto a weather file for the same location and time period.

Since you're a student, if you tell me the time period of your monitored solar data, I will send you (free) the weather station data for either Milano-Linate WMO #160800 near the city, or Milano-Malpensa AP WMO #160660 35 km northwest (the data for both are very good) in EPW  for that same period. For my own curiosity, I would like to see how your measured solar data compare to what I calculate  from the airport weather station reports.

Hello everyone,

I'm Italian student, I want to use my personal data (by monitoring) into EnergyPlus. Precisely, I want to change Global and Diffuse Horizontal Radiation into Milan.epw climatic data.

I tried to follow this steps:

1) run the weather converter on the original file
2) convert the file to "EnergyPlus CSV"
3) open the EnergyPlus CSV file in your favorite spreadsheet program (excel)
4) make the mods, saving it as CSV from the spreadsheet program.
5) run the weather converter again, this time selecting the CSV and make sure the File type is "EnergyPlus CSV"
6) convert it to EPW.

but I have some problem with 5th step. I can't save the file in "EnergyPlus CSV" by excel.

Thank you in advance

Francesco
