RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Shading Coefficient

You can also use LBL WINDOWS to make a calculation.  It reports SHGC and SC in the detailed report for glazing systems.  You can use existing glass and make your own modification to match SC and you will get SHGC calculated.

Hello Ivan,

There is a relationship between SC & SHGC. To perform an approximate conversion from SC to SHGC, multiply the SC value by 0.87.

Ivan,

E+ has no place for shading coefficient.

The WindowMaterial:SimpleGlazing system uses Solar Heat Gain coefficient (SHGC), which is a different property that addresses soalr performance.

WindowMaterial:Glazing uses properties (transmittance, reflectance, etc.) which, together, describe the solar performance of the glass.

If you are not aware of the extensive database of glass / window properties available from the IGDB and also the Window software from Lawrence Berkeley, you should investigate that helpful resource.
