[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: How to draw a louvre on the external windows?

Hi,

You have some options: WindowMaterial:Blind or one of the objects for attached shading surfaces (Shading:Overhang, Shading:Overhang:Projection, Shading:Fin, Shading:Fin:Projection, Shading:Zone:Detailed). The first one creates a "plane" of blinds parallel to the glazing and allows you to define things such as optical and thermal properties, number of slats and spacing. They do not appear at the .dwg file and there are limitations for a natural ventilation analysis using AirflowNetwork.
The other objects allows you to draw more "architectural" surfaces (which appear at the .dwg model and may or may not be over the glazing)  but the optical description is simplified.

The InputOutputReference document is very detailed on these topics. Maybe it is worth to check more carefully the description of the objects if you are going to perform several simulations. As a user  I would say that if you are studying configurations of a slat-type louvre, the WindowMaterial:Blind is the case, but if you are focusing on another analysis and want to know total solar gains removed by the obstruction in general the other objects may be better.
